Choose Mountains

Hi Shenanigan Enthusiasts!

Our days were filled with snow, rain, sunshine, family, friends, laughter, some tears, and lots to be GRATEFUL for this week.  Last Saturday was prom 2.0 for our oldest son, Kolton and his girlfriend, Allie. Since they go to different schools, they had two senior proms to celebrate! Kind of fun since the last couple years have not been all high school should be. It was so fun to see them all dressed up. The funny farm was full of curiosity watching the pre-prom picture shenanigans! Then cue the elk, as the kids posed for pictures with the funny farm observing all the fun, a herd of elk that hangs around this time of year, decided to come through. No doubt, MAGIC to be celebrated

Where does the time go.....

It is bananas to think we have a senior! Kolton and Allie have dated since they were in 7th grade so we have been blessed to watch them both grow and mature into such awesome young adults. The Dr. Seuss book OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO, rings in my head as I think about all that is to come for them.

“You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!”

My Aunt Cindy (love you) gave me a copy of this book when I graduated from high school, and I still carry it with me today. Though it's a children's book the message forever rings true. I am still going all the places I will go! I never would have guessed that would have included a FUNNY FARM in the wide-open spaces of Montana but here I am. And here they go, they have brains in their heads. They have feet in their shoes. They can steer themselves any direction they choose. They're on their own"ish". And they know what they know. And THEY are the ones who'll decide where to go...”-Dr. Seuss

Choose Mountains.....

Your mountain is waiting so get on your way. If there is one piece of advice I hope to instill in our boys, Allie, and really anyone, it is to CHOOSE MOUNTAINS. What I mean by this is dream big, do the hard things, take risks, be ok with failing, learn, grow, and be better next time, don't be afraid to fall but rather be afraid to play it so safe you never really live. The best views come from the hardest climbs, so climb (one of Kolton and Kyler's favorite songs when they were little was THE CLIMB, so I must share!). Don't climb the mountain you think you should, climb the one you dream of climbing. The one others say you can't or shouldn't, climb that one! You don't have to have it all figured out. I promise the ones who think they do probably don't, and if they do, IT, whatever it is, will evolve and change. So go climb YOUR mountain, be open to where is takes you and know there will be lessons and blessings along the way. Be grateful for all of it and truly LIVE this crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magical, awful, beautiful life. Yep, had to sneak one of my many theme songs to the soundtrack of my life in. These words always sum life up so perfectly!

Remember When....

As I watch our boys grow into young men, I sometimes still see their cute little baby faces and find it hard to believe they are so old, especially since I don't feel so old! I once heard someone say you never know it's the last time you will hold your child until it has come and gone. I don't remember the last time I held the boys because it was just another day, but if I knew then what I know now I would imprint that moment in my heart and mind. I am so thankful for all the hugs, snuggles, and memories they have blessed me with. Now I have to get my snuggle fix from the funny farm gang! Boys, boys, boys! Lots of boys this week! One of our friends had their first little baby, welcome to the world Jack. Let the shenanigans begin! And we had some of our favorite little guys come visit us and the funny farm. Dax came cruising on his little strider bike and our buddies Tav and Croix came out for pizza, post flag football excited to hang with their favorite high school football players!  It always makes my heart smile and takes me back to when our kiddos were little. Everything is an adventure when you are a kid. I love the excitement, rowdiness, laughter and fun they all have! Of course, Rowdy, the 'pacas, pigs, and goats put on a show too! ANYTHING  for a bucket of oats!

It truly seems like yesterday our boys where the little guys excited to see the cool big kids at our friend's houses. Now they are both driving, working, and almost all grown up. I am proud of the young men they have become. Jeff and the boys made this mama feel pretty special on Mother's Day. Kyler had the best gift wrapping!  He doesn't believe it wrapping paper!!! They spoiled me but the best gift of all was dinner, MOONSHINE, and dancing in the kitchen after THEY did the dishes!  I love dancing in the kitchen as much as I love old country tunes, and the funny farm! All I want to do is DANCE, yep, I have song for that! Gotta love a little Don Henley!

She wants to party
She wants to get down
All she wants to do is
All she wants to do is dance....

AND HAVE A FUNNY FARM, LISTEN TO HER FAVORITE TUNES AND LIVE HER BEST LIFE

Until we connect again, may you laugh 'til you snort, take the bull by the horns (GRIT), give yourself and others some GRACE, live a good story, climb your mountain, and always look for the magic to celebrate!

Much Gratitude,

Zanna

Again you made me cry. Love your blog, your heart, and your funny farm gift items. I wore my “Love and Shenanigans” cropped hoodie yesterday. I’m reading your blog as I drink coffee from my “Faith & Moonshine” mug. I can’t believe Kolton is 18 and graduating. I’m so proud of him and can’t wait to celebrate him via Mexico! Love you all! Xx
