The Little Things

The Little Things

Hi Shenanigan Enthusiasts!

I hope your week has been full of love and shenanigans! As always, we had plenty of shenanigans around here. The whole gang was happy to see us when we returned home from wedding festivities. I always love leaving for new adventures and celebrations and then I LOVE coming home. Nothing like waking up in our bed, sippin’ some hot coffee (in a Love & Shenanigans mug of course), taking in the quiet beauty of the morning, and then heading down to say good morning to everyone anxiously waiting in the barn. They hear me coming and Betty and June start snorting as if they might blow away if they aren’t the first to get some grain. I promise they are not going to blow anywhere! Our boys call them ham and bacon. Rude! I do love bacon but I have to visit the local meat shop for that, our girls are just too sweet to eat.

Shenanigans

Rowdy continues to be ROWDY, bucking the feed and water troughs over for fun. Little stinker! As much as it makes more work for me it always makes me smile. The goats and ‘pacas are always happy to skip out of the barn in the morning. When I get the brush out they all line up pushing the others away so they can have their turn. The ‘pacas only get pets, and Buddy just can’t get enough. He’s such a love. Rowdy especially loves being brushed and petted and will demand it using his head to nudge me when I stop. Look out horns!! Shenanigans!!!

My Church, listening to my favorite tunes and shoveling sh*t. It’s always during this time that I talk to God with gratitude for all the blessings and the lessons that led me here. Yep, I know there is a song something like this, That’s where I find God by Larry Fleet. One of my FAVORITES (click to listen). I recognize the miracles all around me. I watch these sweet little souls tootle around the yard as a Magpie swoops in and lands on Rowdy’s horn, pigs wallowing proudly in their mud puddle, goats and ‘pacas soaking up the morning sunshine curiously watching the deer pass by on the other side of the fence. One sneeze from Buddy and all the Magpies fly away! Miracles, little things, little moments, are always something to celebrate.

What I know now

The older I get, the less I know. When I was younger, I thought I had it all figured out from relationships, to parenting, to life and love. Now I know, I don’t know much. Love is amazing but forever takes more than love. My kids did the things I said my MY KIDS would never do. I did things I said I would never do. Life is not black and white, it is ever evolving with many shades of color. I am ever evolving. We are ever evolving. What I KNOW now is that it’s the little things that matter the most. It’s the little things that offer the most joy. All the rest is icing and sometimes the icing is overrated. If we get the little things right, no doubt we will live our BEST LIFE.

Little Things by Kelsea Ballerini (click to listen)
It's when we're a crowded room, put your hand on my back
And waitin' on me in the mornin' with my coffee black
Back to the basics 'cause they're bigger than they seem, yeah
(Bigger than they seem, yeah)
Give me that typical, simple love, it's the little things, mm, mm-mm
Yeah, it's the little things

Little Things

Little things really are the big things. A kiss hello, a kiss goodbye, a stolen kiss when no one is looking or maybe they are. Dinner at the table. The BEST conversations happen at our dinner table. The real, honest, silly, sometimes jaw dropping, holy sh*tballs, heartfelt conversations happen when we land together at the dinner table. A kind word, holding a door, saying please and THANK YOU, a smile for a stranger, a glance across the room that says I love you, SAYING I LOVE YOU, holding hands with your forever love, pushing your kid on a swing, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, talking to God, patience, a special song that speaks to your heart and soul, slow dancing in the kitchen, laughing ‘til we snort, holding each other when we cry, standing back up when we fall.....the little things. The little are the big things, aka the important things, the ingredients to truly living our best life.

BEST LIFE INSPIRATIONS

I love LOVE

We had so much fun at Tommy and Grace’s wedding. I love LOVE! Their special day was full of love. You could feel the love of family and forever friends. Tommy turned around and saw his beautiful bride walking down the aisle, tears of joy fell from both their eyes, LOVE. We all had a wonderful evening celebrating them, sippin’ good sips, eating good eats, and dancing the night away! We picked up with old friends and made new ones too. The little things, the little moments, the little details made for a magical evening, celebrating one of the Big Things, saying I DO to forever love. The best SHENANIGANS!!!

I have to wrap up my words from the heart up this week both honoring one of my favorites, Oliva Newton-John who passed away this week, and picking a song from Grease, that sums up the festivities of the last week picking up where we left with forever friends- “FRAMILY”.

WE GO TOGETHER by Olivia Newton- John (click to listen and sing and dance)
We go together
Like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong
Remembered forever
As shoobop sha wadda wadda yippity boom de boom
Chang chang changitty chang shoobop
That's the way it should be, wha oooh, yeah
We're one of a kind
Like dip dadip dadip doowop da doobee doo
