Reflect. Let Go. Celebrate

Reflect. Let Go. Celebrate

Hi Shenanigan Enthusiasts,

I love shenanigans! This week has not disappointed in the shenanigan department. Rowdy continues to be rowdy, bucking over the feed troughs daily and rolling buckets down the hill. I don’t have a solution yet, but nobody seems to mind nibbling their hay from the upside down, or sideways trough. I know it is the definition of insanity to pick it back up and try again every day, but I am crazy like that!

As y’all know, I love fall! I pulled out all of the fall decor and put some scarecrows up down by the barnyard. Of course, the goats tried to eat the straw arms and legs!!! The whole gang is enjoying the beautiful sunshiny days! Evening walks are always entertaining. Buddy always stays in the barnyard while the other ‘pacas, pigs, goats, and Rowdy run about clicking up their heels! All but Rasta and Merle, who love meandering, come running back full steam ahead when I give the grain bucket a shake. It’s comical how fast the pigs can get their little legs going for a treat!!! It takes me a little longer to wrangle Rasta and Merle because they never want the shenanigans to end. BEST LIFE!

Reflect. Let go. Celebrate.

I am so grateful for my mornings listening to my favorite tunes, thanking God for the blessings and the lessons of my life that brought me here, shoveling sh*t every day. I know I share this part of my morning ritual over and over again. It’s so often on my heart, as I sit down to honor my commitment to myself to share my thoughts each week. It’s on my heart because it’s during these moments I find inspiration. Whether it’s in a song, a sunrise, or a snort from Betty and June, my cup is fuller. It really is the simple things that bring the most joy.

Reflect

In these moments, I reflect, sometimes on the many seasons of life that have come and gone, sometimes on the conversation from our dinner table the night before that could be a hilarious reality television show (dear lord, help us and our shenanigans), sometimes on what I can be doing better, and sometimes on somebody’s broken heart I can’t fix but rather just love them through the pain.

Let go

Upon reflecting I am able to recognize the things I can’t control and let go. I give to God what is too heavy to carry. Sometimes easier said than done, when I am invested in a certain outcome. I have gotten better at this through the years and experienced miracles by simply letting go. I love the example of sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto it, but most will be spilled. Let go. Magic will happen!

Celebrate

While there are always things beyond my control, I need to let go of, there are also so many things to be GRATEFUL for, blessings to CELEBRATE! In these magic moments of the morning, I think about how far I have come, where I am going, all the little things and the big things I have to celebrate. I celebrate the joy and the pain. The joy is something I have learned to choose even in the hard moments. Joy is a way of being. That doesn’t mean I bury my head in the sand and it’s all rainbows and butterflies, it means I embrace the hard. Even in the trenches when life “life’s me,” I know the one thing, the only thing, I truly have control over is how I choose to move through my day and my life. That is where my power lies. That is where your power lies too.

Today I reflected on the Grit & Grace that got me to this moment. The love, the hard stuff, the embarrassing moments, the crazy, the passion, the strength, the weaknesses, and my tribe who has been there to love me through it all.

I let go.... of the feed troughs being upright, the little poops that fall through my cute pink pitchfork, wanting to fix what is broken for someone I love, being all the places, I would like to be, the plan I had for my day that didn’t go as planned. I said yes to what is a hard F*** YES (one of my new factors for checking how I really feel about something) and no to everything else, knowing it will all work out because I am being guided.

I am celebrating sippin’ hot black coffee in wee hours of the morning, letting go, the unconditional love of my tribe and the funny farm, health, being badassie, Fall, pizza, good tunes, good sip’s, learning, growing, laughing,  dancin’ in the kitchen, freedom, opportunities, turning dreams into reality and of course shenanigans!!!

One of the songs that played in my pocket while reflecting this week was Getting Good. It so perfectly sums up how we are so often looking to the next thing to full fill us and complete us. We believe when we do the thing or have the thing, we will be happy. Then we get it and instead of being happy we still have a hole, so we keep looking for the next thing. As long as we are looking for validation and happiness outside of ourselves, we will never truly have it. Wisdom to CELEBRATE.

Getting Good - Lauren Alaina (click to listen to a tune for the soul)

Once I fall in love, then I'll be happy

But then you fall in love and there's still a hole

Once I get some money, it'll all be easy

But then you get that money, you still feel broke

Once I get a little older, I won't worry

Then you get older and it don't feel like it should

I'm thinking once I learn to grow right where I'm planted

Maybe that's when life starts getting good.

Can’t Keep Up - Brett Eldredge (click here to dance too! And then play it again!!!)

Pour me a glass of somethin' special

I'm in the mood to celebrate

Dance like the devil went down to Georgia

'Cause he can't keep up with the hell we raise

All my glassware is made up of mason jars. I love them because they rarely break and if they do, they are easily replaced! I found these adorable mason jar wine glasses for sippin' good sips. Click HERE if you have to have them too!!! Cheers!
