Perspective & Gratitude

Perspective & Gratitude

Hi Shenanigan Enthusiasts!

I love sitting down to share my heart and all of the LOVE & SHENANIGANS of the week with you! I never know where my thoughts will take me or what "TEA I will spill", as my sister Laina likes to say! I LOVE IT! Check out AMALA her tea lounge and online store by clicking on it above. Anyway, this week as been full mud, muck, madness, old friends, new friends, possibilities, lots to be grateful for, shoveling sh*t, and as always love and shenanigans!

Faith and Moonshine Help......

Last Friday Jeff got a wild hair and decided to expand the barn area of the funny farm, which is awesome but the timing.... not so much!!! The project required tearing into the hill side and moving dirt to level and expand the usable space down at the funny farm. Mind you, we had just dialed in the landscaping the day before in preparation for kicking off summer, with a house full of family for Kolton's high school graduation this week! We have had limited time to work outside because it has been an extra wet spring. So of course, let's move dirt aka make more mud prior to hosting a big BBQ celebration this week! I was a wee bit flustered but as always, he pulled it off and the animals are in heaven with a little more room and two more trees in their space to lay under and nibble on. Oh, and as for me and my flusteredness, Faith and Moonshine Help!!!

What I don't see can't fluster me! So as the boy fun of tractors, digging, and destruction commenced I headed into town to do the errands I had already planned for the day. The expansion required taking the current fence down temporarily so the whole funny farm gang was running around the entire property and Rowdy onto our neighbor's 200 acres. He loved it! The goats loved getting into all of the flowers we had planted the day before and anything else they could. T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Oh shoot, there goes my musical brain! Click here to hear the song that started playing in my mind as the word trouble left my fingertips and landed on the page.  For the most part it sounds like the pigs and 'pacas just cruised without getting into too much mischief. Hours later as I pulled up to the house, I smiled ear to ear watching the madness of Rowdy wandering about the patio sniffing the flowers, goats, pigs and 'pacas running amuck while Jeff and the boys worked to put the fence back up.  By the end of the day everyone was back in the yard, loving the new space and seeming satisfied from their adventures that day! Much to be GRATEFUL for.

Grateful for perspective.....

As I navigated that day and this whole last week, I am reminded how much I have to be thankful for. That day, as I made my way from place to place gathering animal feed, getting groceries, and going about other business, I observed so many people just going through the motions, truly just surviving their day and likely their life. It really put into perspective that if a little unexpected mud, muck, and madness was what I had to be flustered about, well then, I have to stop and be grateful. Grateful for my sweet, handsome, hubby always looking at how he can be making things better. Grateful for my boys who are nearly men, men who will work hard, love hard, and pursue their dreams because that is what they have learned along the way. Grateful for being crazy enough to take the leap of faith that brought us to Montana. Grateful to soak up the sunrises and sunsets most days. Grateful for good sips and yummy bites. Grateful for our FUNNY FARM. Grateful for old friends, new friends, and family. Grateful to the mud and the muck we have navigated to bring us to this moment. Grateful for the blessings and the lessons that allow us to truly appreciate where we are and where we are going. Grateful that when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Moments...

Most nights I write a few things down I am grateful for in my journal. It's funny how when you stop and think about what there is to be grateful for, more to be grateful for shows up all around us. I guess the saying what we focus on expands is true. As I reflect on all that I am thankful for there seems to be a theme, MOMENTS. While we all appreciate nice things, it's the moments that matter. The quiet of the morning, the magic of the sunrise and sunsets, the possibilities that come with each day, the satisfaction of a day well lived, the love of family and friends, laughing 'til we snort once is a while, shenanigans at the funny farm, talking to God, my hubby bringing me coffee in bed, kisses, holding hands on a stroll, toasting with the best of friends, nachos, a song that pulls the heart strings, a heartfelt conversation, MOMENTS are what fill my cup. There's something to SOME OF IT. Yep, another song from the soundtrack that is my life. Click to listen or sing along!

Some Of It - Eric Church

Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't probably know what I think I do
But there's somethin' to
Some of it

❤️ so many things that aren’t things at all. Family, friends and all the good stuff . But recently I am grateful for my patience . Something that I work on and it’s paying off in ten folds lately 😂
