Grit & Grace -Embracing Uncertainty

Grit & Grace -Embracing Uncertainty

Hi Shenanigan Enthusiasts!

How it possible another week has already come and gone? I guess what they say is true, time flies when you are having fun (by fun I mean FUN, and working hard, playing hard, loving hard, overcoming challenges, laughing, crying when I need to, shoveling s**t, listening to my favorite tunes and giving what I can't control to GOD)! It's been another week of blessings and lessons and finding the magic in each day.

Jeff and I got to sneak away to Nashville last weekend. Our teenage boys kept the funny farm alive while we were gone. YAY! They don't enjoy shoveling the s**t like I do but other than that they did a good job! Rowdy is learning he has some pretty cool horns and thinks it's amazing to use them. He has been rolling the goat's teeter totter down the hill among other things. Over the weekend he discovered it is soooo fun to dump the smaller water trough I have for Betty and June (the pigs) to reach, and then chuck it down the hill. Since the boys don't regularly do the feeding, they didn't realize it was missing. When I got home the gals were so happy, they dove in the water bucket to drink up!  Since I've been home this is a fun new game Rowdy, and I are playing every day! I guess the magic is I am getting some extra hiking up and down the hill! Always shenanigans around here!

Dreamers....

If you haven't been to Nashville, you must go! There is so much undiscovered talent everywhere you turn. Dreamers chasing dreams. I love that! Not just chasing the dream but working their booties off for the dream. Whether it's noon, 2:00am or 6:00 am at the airport restaurant someone is there singing their hearts out, working for tips because they believe they can make their dream a reality! Dreams don't work unless we do and each one of those dreamers is WORKING for it. I also LOVE that everyone from twenty-one to eighty-two is loving life, dancing, singing and smiling. Though I can't sing and really can't dance, I love doing both! Of course, the singing part must happen with radio up so loud I can't hear myself. That said, being surround by such passion, purpose, and drive is inspiring. So here is to you, and here is to me, working hard to make those ever-evolving dreams a reality! Cheers to the DREAMERS!

Embracing Uncertainty.....

Back to reality. Springtime in Montana is, as Forrest Gump would say, "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get." One day it's sunshine and t-shirts the next it's snow boots and jackets. It sums up life perfectly. We can't control what happens, though lord knows I wish I could sometimes, all we can do is CHOOSE how we respond to what we are given. I have learned to embrace uncertainty and adapt as needed. So yesterday I soaked up the sun and got as many FUNNY FARM chores done as possible knowing today would bring snow. As much as I am ready for the grass to turn green and flipflops showing off my stubby little sausage tows, I embrace this beautiful snowy day with gratitude for the green grass it is sure to bring.

Life has "lifed" me a time or ten and the one thing I know for certain is nothing is certain. So, I have learned to embrace uncertainty, knowing everything is a  blessing or a lesson that will become a blessing. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. We are reminded of this all too often. Much of my inspiration for what I share from my heart here comes from the daily shenanigans at the funny farm, life, love and song lyrics that resonate with me. As I was running yesterday, Pink's song, All I Know So Far came on. Love her! You're welcome non-country fans!!! lol, listen here). These words spoke to me as I reflected on the Montana weather this week and how it parallels life.

" I wish someone would've told me that this darkness comes and goes
People will pretend but, baby girl, nobody knows
And even I can't teach you how to fly
But I can show you how to live like your life is on the line"

The darkness does come and go. Whether it's real storm clouds or the storms life will inevitably bring, embrace the journey, live with some GRIT & GRACE (a whole lot of both!) and LOVE LIKE CRAZY ( shoot, I just couldn't not do it, here is your coutnry song too! listen here).

Until we connect again, may you laugh 'til you snort, take the bull by the horns (GRIT), give yourself and others some GRACE and embrace the uncertainty in this crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magic, awful, beautiful life. And always look for the MAGIC!

Much Gratitude,

Zanna
